1. A Childhood at Sea

I was born in Tel Aviv in the summer of 1971. An only child, an IDF orphan. When everyone in ninth grade went surfing, my mother was afraid to buy me a surfboard. So I bought a mask and a snorkel and grew up by the sea. Mostly underwater.

2. The Navy, Then Fishing

It was clear to me that I would enlist in the Navy. I served as a deputy commander of the 916th Squadron, where I learned about responsibility, leadership, and teamwork under pressure. After my duty service I still couldn't say goodbye to the sea. So I bought a large fishing boat in Jaffa Port, where Simon and I went fishing every day for two years.

3. Understanding People

After drinking enough seawater, I went to study psychology. I wanted to understand why people behave the way they do, and how teams manage to achieve exceptional results together.

Later I relocated to Florida for P.hD. studies in clinical psychology, intending to return and work with soldiers dealing with PTSD.

4. Family. A New Direction

After the third hurricane, my girlfriemd told me she loves me very much, but hurricanes are not for her. We returned to Israel, got married, built a family, a strong love and brought four amazing children, while I kept searching for the connection between people, motivation and influence. I studied for a 2nd degree in communications. From there the road to entrepreneurship was short.

5. Entrepreneurship. Five Startups

One idea became a startup. Then came another, and another. For more than twenty years I founded and led five startup companies.

One merged. One went public. Two were acquired. And one closed. Along the way I dealt with almost everything a company encounters: product, teams, fundraising, investors, markets, sales, pivots, growth and crises.

6. Back to the Sea

Together with a former Israeli Navy brigadier general, I founded an investment fund for marine startups, completed a master's degree in Marine Resource Management, and over five years we invested in a few marine startups together with Ratio Technologies.

Eventually I realized that the place where I create the most value is working with the people who build companies.

I sat down to write a book that distilled what I had learned along the way. The book became a methodology, and the methodology became keynotes, workshops, advisory and mentoring.

Today I work with entrepreneurs and executives to build companies that can grow, adapt and outsail storms.
